About Us

Nickie Knight
Founder and Editor in Chief

Nickie Knight, the founder & editor in chief of HipMomsGoGreen, is excited to introduce The Go Green Pages. Going “green” has always been more than hobby, or buzzword, for Nickie. Having combined a nursing degree from The University of Virginia with an innate love of research, Nickie has minimized her children’s severe health issues through alterations to her family’s diet and environment, as well as started a successful consulting business. Her specialty is in simplifying the process of going green so that moms are undaunted by the task of creating a healthier world for themselves and their children. For over a decade, Nickie has tackled issues in the fields of homeopathy, naturopathy, and nutrition, in addition to drawing on her experience in interior design to assist in the management and elimination of home-based toxins. She has created The Go Green Pages directory to not only serve as a resource for her readers, but to also include anyone interested in finding "green" products, businesses and services. Whether you’re in the market for an organic baby food or an eco-friendly resort, The Go Green Pages are an invaluable tool to help you with your eco-minded goals

Kelly Polston
Contributing Writer and Chef

Kelly Polston is a graduate of UC Berkeley as well as culinary school. She grew up eating vegetables out of her mother’s garden, and “sticks and twigs” at her dad’s house. Kelly’s family has always been into healthy eating-her parents are products of the sixties, after all. Her goal is to make healthy, organic eating a delicious way of life for all. She is the mother of two boys, one eleven, and one sixteen months. Her second child was born at home with a midwife. She has been eating and cooking organic since the birth of her first child and has been hiding vegetables in her older sons food for three years. A former competitive rower, Kelly is an avid runner, knitter, reader, gardener, and amateur interior designer. She lives in Southern California with her husband, children, and a miniature zoo of animals and is currently at work on a novel. Kelly has been cooking since she was four, when she made her first “soup” for her mom. And yes, her mom ate it.

Dr. Phil Wazny NMD
Contributing Naturopath

A native of Colorado, Dr. Wazny graduated magna cum laude in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Colorado. While in Colorado, he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and served as president of the University’s Premedical Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Delta.

Searching for adventure and new experiences in health care upon graduation, Dr. Wazny spent two years with the United States Peace Corps in Honduras where he worked with midwives, physicians and nurses at the local health center. It was here that he first witnessed the power of botanical medicine. Working with patients at the health center, traditional medicines were often in short supply. As a result, Wazny walked with patients and handpicked dozens of local rainforest’s botanicals to treat their ailments.

These experiences prompted Dr. Wazny to pursue a career in naturopathy. Dr. Wazny graduated from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences, in Tempe, Arizona and then completed a two-year residency in Mesa, AZ with a focus on pain management and family practice.

As a Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD), Dr. Wazny is trained in the various disciplines of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM): acupuncture, homeopathy, botanical medicine, nutrition, environmental medicine, detoxification, and mind-body medicine. He is also trained in more traditional subjects such as pharmacology and minor surgery.  To learn more about Dr. Wazny please visit his website directly at Integrative Health Care in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Sabrina Posillico
Contributing Writer and Cosmetics Expert
Founder and Creator of Healing Anthropology

Sabrina was born in Rome, Italy in 1974 and immigrated to the United States a year later.  Her mother, from a tiny town in Italy, was an early source of inspiration for her, using natural remedies and concoctions throughout her childhood. “I remember her using rosemary-infused olive oil on her skin and how amazing it smelled,” recalls Sabrina.

Later she was fortunate enough to travel the world through modeling and international social work. She was always introduced to the latest in skin care technology, but inevitably found herself inquiring about natural beauty secrets within the local culture. These experiences gave Sabrina a unique perspective on skin care, one that blended modern science with ancient healing practices.

Sabrina’s passion for natural practices intensified after she lost several family members to cancer. She realized her relatives that had remained in their small towns in Italy were living longer, healthier lives than those who had moved to the states and that the food we eat and the products we use have an incredible impact on our well being.

Changing her diet to natural and organic foods, free from chemicals and preservatives, was not that difficult, however finding beauty products with the same standards was nearly impossible. Sabrina repeatedly found that even products claiming to be 100% natural still contained parabens, petroleum-based ingredients and other chemicals. She realized there was a need for high quality, truly natural products and so Healing Anthropology was born.

As founder and president, Sabrina is involved in every aspect of Healing Anthropology, which includes working closely with ethnobotanists and clinical herbalists to formulate every product. She feels very passionately about creating skin care products that are truly pure and healthy, yet still luxurious and effective. As proof to the efficacy of the products she is still modeling at 35 with girls half her age! She has also always been passionate about the environmental and social health of the planet and this comes out in every aspect of the company.
